WILLIAM PERRY MYERS: The
oldest son & second born child of Andrew & Mary Myers was a Son, William Perry Myers. He
was born 12/13/1820 near Tarton, in Pickaway County, Ohio, and died 9/25/1909 in Mercer County. He is buried in
New Boston Cemetery. (See Obituary Page)
Album says: LOU MYERS ~ Guessing it's WM P Wife |
|
Born about 1931 - 02/22/1872 |
WM PERRY'S FIRST MARRIAGE: William Perry was married twice. His first wife Louisa Brown Larrance,
was the daughter of Jonathan and Elizabeth (Swafford) Larrance, she was also the sister of Noah Noble Larrance who was married
to Jane (Myers) Mannon's daughter Amanda Alice (the niece of her husband WM Perry Myers).
Louisa Larrance was born about 1831 in Henry County, Indiana. She
was married to William Perry on 12/13/1852 in Mercer County, and died 2/22/1872 in Mercer County. She is buried in New Boston
Cemetery.
(*About above Photo "Lou Myers") The name under the photo
in the album simply says "Lou Myers" in Irene's hand writting. So this photo could either be William Perry Myers sister
Louisa Myers who was born in 1837 or it could be his first wife, Louisa B. Larrance Myers born in 1831. It's located
in the album just after 2 of William Perry's sisters, but opposite 4 smaller pictures of the 3 children he had with
his second wife. So unless there'e someone out there who know's for sure which LOU this is, I'm guessing it's his
1st wife, but actually it's anyone's guess!
William along with his first wife Louisa and thier family are found in New Boston Town in the 1870 Census: William P.,
age 49, keeping livery, born Ohio; Louisa B., age 39, born Indiana; Myron A., 15; Horace, 11; Grace D., 9; Lloyd, 6; Lillie,
4; Earle, 1. They had an additional child, Mary Orline, born 1857, but she died on 8/28/1858 at the age of 1 yr 7 Mo
14 Ds. She is buried in the New Boston Cemetery. Son Earle also died young on 4/25/1874 at the age of 4 yrs 11
Mo 5 Ds. He is also buried the in New Boston Cemetery in a plot with his parents and younger sister Mary Orline.

MYRON MYERS LIFE & CLAIM TO FAME
We know by family documents and News paper clippings that
Myron's family resides in Hinsdale, Illinois for most of his older life. Myron is last mentioned in the Mercer County
cesus in 1870 at the age of 15. By the next census in 1880 he would be 25 and is probably married and living on his
own.
I also remember being told that he was the Co-Founder
and Vice President of the Cable-Nelson piano Company out of Chicago. This Piano Company still exists today.
Proof that he was at least the Vice President can be found in a News paper Article written about his father William Perry
attending a Republican convention in Chicago for the parties founders. (Click HERE to See "Convention" article on William Perry & Levi page). This fact is also mentioned in a section about his life, on pg 967 of the History of Du Page
County.

Myron A. Myers Taken Aug, 1911 |
MYRON ANDREW MYERS
Myron was the oldest child of William Perry and Louisa B. Myers. He
was born April 30, 1855 in New Boston, Mercer County, IL. He married Mary Eldora Rhodes on June 10, 1885 in Anamosa, Iowa.
"The DuPage County History" gives many interesting details of Myron's
life after New Boston. First of all it states that he became a citizen of Hinesadale in 1906. And tells of his accomplishments
in life starting with his first job, which was in 1871 at a printing office in New Boston at the age of 15. In
1872 he left that job and went to work for his Uncle Levi Myers at the office of the Wapello Republic in Wapello, Iowa.
He worked at that office until 1876 when he went to Chicago. From that time until 1904 he worked for a Chicago News
Paper Compnay, first as a type setter then as an Advertising Solicitor and then Advertising Manager. Then in September 1904
he became President and general manager of the Company and he held that position unti January 1906. From April 1, 1906
until February 7, 1911 he did indeed hold the position of Vice-President of the Cable-Nelson Piano Company in Chicago.
Since his father, William Perry Myers, was a delegate to the historic
Republican Convention of 1856, it's only natural that Myron himself would also belong to the Republican Party. He served four
years as a board member for Hinsdale. The Family attended the Congregational Church of Hinsdale, whre Myron held several offices
including three years as Sunday School Superintendant. He was a Director of the Chicago Missionary Society and Chicago Theological
Society as well as a corporate member of the American Board of Commissionersfor Foriegn Missions. Sounds like he took
after his Uncle Levi, being involved in both Religious and Political matters.

The article tells that Mrs Myers had been working weekly at the Red Cross Headquarters

The remainer of the article is missing which tells about Elizabeth's enlistment

Cousin Becky was checking out the passport

On Horace 2/2/2011:
Horace G. Myers was born in April 1860 in New Boston,
IL.
In 1892 He married Blanche R. Rogers, b. Feb 1872 Ark.
As far as I can tell Horace and Blanche only had once child;
Clara Louise, born Dec 1897 in New York.
An article about Horace G. Myers appears in "Notable
Men of Rochester and Vicinity: XIX and XX Centuries" along with his photo. The article lists Horace as a Proprietor
of Myers' Advertising Agency.
In the 1900 Census Records Horace & family are found
living as boarders in Monroe County, Rochester, New York with his wife Blanche and three year old daughter CLara Louise. Horace's
occupation is listed as Advertising. Also listed as a boarder next to Horace and Blanche is Widow, Clara E. Rogers, age 50 (probably
Blanche's mother). She was b. March 1850 in Indiana.
In the 1910 Census Records Horace is found as Head of House
Hold still living in Monroe County, Rochester, New York. Living with him are his wife Blanche, daughter Clara, Nephew Horace
M. Martin born Texas and servant Martha Barth born Germany.
In the 1920 Census Records Blanche is listed
as Widow. Blanche and daughter Clara are found living as "Guest" in New York County, Manhattan, New York.

"Compliments of A. M. Sayers Walnut, ILL"
PICTURED ABOVE RIGHT: A more mature, adult Grace Myers. This photo has a gold trim around the border. The front is stamped
by the photographer: Stevens; (Inside a ribbon, surrounding an eagle it says) Superior Finish Cabinet Portrait; (at the side)

The back of the photo has an elaborate gold stamped photographers signature,
with words running through a ribbon surrounding an eagle like on the front; and on designs the eagle seems to be standing

Since some of the family moved to Chicago in the late 1800's and the
photos of Grace and her family are taken at Chicago Photographers I'm guessing her family went to Chicago area as well.

WILLIAM PERRY MYERS DESCENDANTS
WILLIAM PERRY MYERS & MARY WESTERBLOW'S FAMILY
HISTORY
WM PERRY'S
SECOND MARRIAGE: William Perry Myers second marriage was to widow *Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Westerblo) Mattson on 8/24/1873 in Mercer County.
She came to the US from Sweden with her
parents Mr and Mrs. Andrew Westerblo, between 1850 and 1860. (SEE the Mattson page for more details)
Mary Westerblow came
from a very large family with the possibility of ten children (siblings), BUT due to their Swedish accents information from
census to census varies the spelling of their name (ex. - Westerblo, Westerblow, Westerblad, Westercreek, Westerbrook) so
much that it's very difficult to find or even follow this family line. Correct spelling and family details seem not
to be an important issue back then.
A cousin Rowena, who is a Grand
daughter of Mary Westerblo by her first marriage to Pete Mattson, found records in 2001 at the Iowa City Historical
library that Mary Westerblo Mattson Myers parents were buried over there in Page Co Iowa. So at some
point after settling in Mercer County they must have migriated to Iowa. Anyone who can get to Court Houses, Libraries,
ect in Iowa should look up this info if they get a chance.
MARY WESTERBLOW'S 1ST MARRIAGE
Mary Westerblo was the widow of Peter Mattson. Mary had two children with Peter Mattson, Alice and Julius. Peter and Mary were both from Sweden but both
of their children were born in Illinois.
* When I was a kid listening to Irene's stories about her Grandma
I was often confused about who was who. Irene always refered to her Grandma as Grandma Mary Westerblo Mattson Myers.
I always wondered why she had so many names but once I started researching the family I found out that there were at
least 7 Mary Myers in JUST the first three generations - No wonder I was confused!
